After many forwards...MY FIRST DEAL!!

Post by mrdtman » Mon Feb 27, 2017 10:01 pm

I've had a few forwards over the last year or so but no other contact. Was truly delighted to get contacted with an acceptance from a library in the UK! It's for a track that I called 'SPIRAL DESCENDING'' they have re titled it to 'SPIRAL FEAR'. Had to make some alt versions, 30 sec, 60 sec, soundbed, etc... & they were accepted. I do have a question for my TAXI peers. Do I register the alt versions with my PRO. Never had to do this before & could use your knowledge on this - thanks in advance.

The cue is on my TAXI page if you want to check it out under SPIRAL DESCENDING.

Looking forward to more good news in the future. THANKS TAXI!! :D :D

Hi Duane -
I don't have the answer to your question; was just surfing the Forums' New Posts and took time to listen to your 'successful' placement; congrats.
For what it's worth, that's an intense piece there, and certainly can imagine it getting used in some creepy, scary film/TV scene; good luck with that.
From the Peanut Gallery; Cheers.

Congrats Duane! I am also signed to this UK library. They will do the PRO registrations. Get that contract mailed to them as soon as you can print it. For me, it took them a while to receive my contracts in the mail - they even sent me a reminder that they hadn't received my contract and I sent it out right away....snail mail stinks.

Best of luck!

Hi Duane,
Congrats on the deal!
From what you say, its the same UK library that gave me my first deal too. They do seem to be slow dealing with contracts, and as Marcus says, they might take a while to acknowledge receipt of your (even sending reminders). Don't worry though, they'll eventually sort it out and all will be OK. Leave it to them to register the tracks with your PRO (although they might not do so until one is placed and liable to return some income).

Also, don't forget to check their list of what other music they're currently seeking. You are now eligible to submit more tracks and build your portfolio with them, should you wish to.

Thanks everyone. I sent out my contract as soon as it was ready, wondered why it had to be snail mail but guess that's how it is.

I did submit some other songs to them last night. We'll see how it goes.

Congrats to all of you that got a deal with them too!!

That is awesome, Mr.DT! I remember digging that chill wave piece you wrote earlier this year.
