Due Monday--haunting cover

Post by Piewackit1 » Sun Mar 12, 2017 1:03 pm

This is due Monday: https://soundcloud.com/piewackit-1/dont ... t-me-final

Looking for feedback, mood? mix? Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.
Jeff

COMPELLING, RE-IMAGINED COVER SONGS with an INDIE ROCK approach and Female Vocals are U-R-G-E-N-T-L-Y needed by a BIG Music Licensing Company that has tons of placements in TV and Films. This listing just ran as #S170301CI, and the company is looking for a LOT more! If you submitted to listing #S170301CI, please send in different material this time around. Lots of it!!

They’re looking for contemporary Down-To-Mid-Tempo Songs that you’d expect to find on a playlist with acts like (but not limited to) the references below:

“Heart Shaped Box (Nirvana Cover)” by Lana Del Rey: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TZIliIa5_bY

“Shout (Cover)” by Think Up Anger ft. Malia J: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q6ftmJI ... e=youtu.be

“Everybody Wants To Rule The World (Cover)” by LORDE: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DaVA6sgOpws

Note: They clearly want to build a stash of re-imagined Covers that can be licensed for Film and TV Trailers, and they want to do it in a hurry! Covers like these are quickly becoming the norm in the Trailer world, and the industry is scrambling to find as many as they can to meet the demand! The good news is that you don’t have to write anything new!! You just need to cover it in a completely different way!

Please submit unique, re-imagined versions of Well-Known Songs that have a dark, moody vibe, and push the creative envelope. Covering songs that are a little (or a lot) older is actually a good idea for a pitch like this! Sticking to the original melody and lyrics is also a good idea, but wrapped up in a whole new style!

Your submission should be rhythmically and melodically engaging, with an Indie Style vocal performance. Your songs should be full-length, and have Non-Faded/Buttoned endings. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).

A super cool cover of this song, Jeff. It seems on target for this listing, imo.

I understand it's due today (I'm just listening for the first time now) nevertheless I'm going to share a few additional thoughts with you via PM on Soundcloud.

All the best with this submission!

Cool cover for sure!

I think it's a little more "threatening" than "haunting"... but that's just a gut reaction.

It's oozing with mood and character.
I would have loved to hear FAR more reverb on her voice, less compression too (I'm getting some weird artifacts because of the compression).
Those drums come in WAY too late for my taste - would have been cool if they came in at the second verse...but just a thought!

Great work!
Good luck with it!
I hope it's a winner for you!

Nick
