TO sum up this thread, it could be hours, days, months, years, or not at all. Write , submit, forget. Visited this thread a number of times. Interesting stories here though and a good read.

Getting ready to submit my first songs...it's always a gamble of sorts it sounds like. But I guess that's part of the fun of it :)

I know what you mean. The thrill of the hunt. It's funny, but I'm looking forward to some rejections so I can figure out how to play the game a bit better 8-) Not that I wouldn't like to see some forwards outta my first stack.

For those who are ready to give up, it took me three years and three months before I got my very first deal. In all that time I could count my forwards on just my two hands. So you don't need a lot of forwards, but you do need to be on the forum. If you want to be rich, do what the rich do. If you want to get your music placed, go on the forum and do what others are doing, to get your music placed. Then ask yourself, what else would you rather be doing with your life...now go write that hit song :)

All the best

Tom.

There is no quick fix to success. In fact, often the faster success happens, the less sustainable it is. That is not just the music business, that is any business - that is life. I like Coach Debra's farming analogy. So true. Building a career takes time.

Diligence, Consistency, Commitment , Focus on providing the client (or in the case of Taxi - listing) what they ask for because thats what they want and ultimately need. When it doesnt work, an in check ego helps. Perspective is everything.

My one and only deal (so far) came from the library itself (a good one), the day before I got the forward email from taxi. They must have been anxious

This happened late July, 2013. As of today, I have no additional "taxi" success to report (other than a few forwards here and there), but this library also signed 9 more of mine. About 50% of the additional songs signed were ones taxi screeners thought were lacking in broadcast quality. I'm still trying to figure that part out ...

I'm sure I could get them to sign more, but I'd like to hold off until establishing a relationship with another library/publisher. I'm told eggs in multiple baskets is the way to do business ... ;)

Trying to get my momentum back since the Rally. I was on a roll the week before, and lost a lot of steam when I got back. A little bit of info overload, intimidation, and laziness. Just updated my DAW and finally getting back to writing.

Write, submit, forget, repeat!

We were forwarded to Music Supervisor on or bout 04 /26/013 and were contacted on 6/04/2013. We admit this was fast because we have multiple other forwards almost a year old and have heard nothing. We just keep writing and studying new styles. We have been blessed to have the opportunity to write for some cool reality shows and learn new techniques. when we looked through our music we noticed that we had a lot of music that they could use. We have more work than time to do it, What A Joy! :D The best advice we can offer is to be patient, keep writing, keep your eye on your email, including your junk folder, and last of all when they do contact you be prompt, deliver on time, and keep studying television and film music that is within your wheel house.

PS: Stay Humble and easy to work with!!!

Been with Taxi about a year and a half, most forwards did not yield deals(yet anyhow). The 3 libraries we have go into hit us up fairly quickly after we got the forward notices. For those that are getting discouraged you should know that it is not only a matter of getting a forward, but rising to the top of the pile of forwards, the Jason B's went over that stuff at the last Rally in pretty good detail.

Once you are in a library you should research it, and write for it. We set up genre playlists, and when the library folks ask to hear something we have stuff tailored for their needs. We have been getting multiple tunes signed recently doing that.

We know how that can be. The music business is a lot of hurry up and wait. May I ask what type of music do you make and do you have any links to your music online? We would love to hear it. We got contacted by one library after many forwards so we decided to create other income streams with our music. Just because you have not received anything from the forwards means nothing. If you have those many forwards you are very good, it is not you these music supervisors are very picky. They are even picky with commercial artists. Here is some information that might help. Put your music on Sound Cloud if it is not the already. Put your music on You Tube too. Network with the other artist there and DJ's. Follow people and make friends you would be surprised how much that can help push your music. Make Account at Audiosparx.com and put some music there. Industry professionals come there to look for music. If you do not have them get these two books they will save your life

http://www.amazon.com/Shortcuts-Songwri ... ongwriting

By the way while you are on You Tube Search for videos that help tutor you in the style of music you play and if you can try to learn other genres.

One thing we have learned with taxi is that they are a service that can help a musician who wants to study her/his craft and learn and listen and learn and listen and learn. Taxi helped us get our musical game tight. every time we got a return we went and studied what we did wrong and fixed it. Now the music it used to take us days to finish now takes us hours some times minutes.

About 100% of our submissions were for genres we have never done in our lives. We went to YouTube and to Hooktheory.com and chordify.com and learned the chord progressions and the instruments used and the cadence of the chords used in the song.

Then we ghosted it like Robin Frederick said in her two books. We now sell beats online because we learned how to make Rap,Trap,R&B, Dub Step,Pop,epic movie trailers, commercial music,TV cues, and tons more.

Well we hope this helps. You just keep at it I have a feeling it is all around the corner. Have a great day 2PartsAnalog!
