Just got contacted after a forward! :-)

Post by Casey H » Fri Jan 20, 2017 5:56 pm

A few days ago I had 2 songs forwarded for this listing:
SINGER-SONGWRITER SONGS with some FOLK Influence that have Male or Female Vocals are needed by a NON-Exclusive, Boutique Music Library that needs quite a bit of fresh, new material for TV and Film pitches. They’re searching for Songs in All Tempos that are in the general stylistic range of artists like, The Tallest Man On Earth, Joseph, The Wind and The Wave, etc., etc., etc. Please review the following references the client gave to us to get in the general ballpark of what they need: “Rivers” by The Tallest Man On Earth: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gyPYU-FnffM “White Flag” by Joseph: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=el1QWfnYy_c “Grand Canyon” by The Wind and The Wave: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=--zhov5kpbQ Please submit contemporary sounding Singer/Songwriter songs with some Folkie influences, engaging melodies, attention-grabbing melodic and lyrical elements in all sections of the song. A stand out chorus needs to be a priority, whether you’re submitting a stripped-down guitar/vocal song or a fuller, ensemble driven piece. Be sure your vocals are unique and confident, with a current sounding delivery. Your production should feel authentic to the genre, with instrumentation that’s mainly acoustic, however, some electronic elements can work as well. Any or all of the following instruments would be on target: acoustic guitars, piano, banjo, ukulele, stomps, handclaps, fiddles, mandolins, etc. Quoting the source: “Group vocals and harmonies are a plus but not necessary, especially for more stripped-down songs”. Do NOT copy or rip off the referenced artists or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine). This company offers a NON-EXCLUSIVE, 50/50 split. You'll get 100% of the Writer's share. The Publisher will get 100% of the Publisher’s share. You must own or control your Master and Copyright to submit for this pitch. Please submit one to three songs online or per CD, Include Lyrics. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis - No full critiques. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59PM (PST), on Tuesday, January 10th, 2017.TAXI #Y170110SS
Just got an email from the company about signing the songs and asking me to submit more!! 8-)

It's all about building relationships and any single forward can lead to that. Thank you Taxi and Screener 347 for the forwards and nice words!

And very special thanks to my co-writers and producers on these songs: Steven Guiles, Pedro Costa, Nathan Nasby, and Paul Otten.

 Casey

The great part of being contacted following a Taxi forward is you almost always get to submit more songs to the listing party. A new relationship is formed.

I had 2 songs forwarded here and now will be signing a total of 8 with this library. :D  8-) And I'm sure down the road I'll be sending in more!

BTW, I get frustrated just like anyone else. Before this deal I had a VERY long drought of forwards with no contacts. Persistence. Hang in there! Write, submit, forget.... Lather, rinse, repeat. ;)

:D Casey
