Latin Grammy nomination for "Song Of The Year"

Post by Jfinbury » Sun Oct 02, 2016 8:40 pm

Unbelievable news this week! No Taxi placement but my bossa nova song "A Chama Verde" was nominated for a 2016 Latin Grammy for "Song Of The Year!"

https://www.latingrammy.com/en/nominees

Big Congratulations to co-lyricists my wife Patty Brayden and my old friend Ned Claflin, to the gorgeous vocals of Marcella Camargo, to my engineer and co-producer Bob Patton and the amazing players on the record (Tim Ray, Mark Walker, Fernando Huergo, Claudio Ragazzi, Ricardo Monzon, and our beloved and dearly missed Roberto Cassan).

The announcement on YouTube is a hoot: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CqG9-DNybU0

Here is the link to "A Chama Verde” on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DR_tfBL2WBA

This is unreal. No label,no video, and a few forwards of the instrumental track of the song on Taxi. On September 21st when the final nominations were announced "A Chama Verde" had 137 views/listens on YouTube. The Enrique Iglesias nominated song "Duele El Corazon" had 351,645,675
and Shakira's song with Carlos Vives "La Bicicleta" had 225,398,197

We are not sure why or how this is happening but Patty and I (and Marcella Camargo) are on Cloud 10 and we are very sure we are going to Las Vegas for the show (November 17) and the after-party with Shakira!

Forgive me, but one of the ways I am grappling with this remarkable event is to share it.

Thanks for listening,

John Finbury

Holy crap, John, this is INCREDIBLE!! I'd love to hear the whole story as to how this happened. But for now, just enjoy the ride. It's not every day you're nominated for a firkin' GRAMMY!!

AMAZING story! Those 137 YouTube views are not going to do it... your song must have been used somewhere. CONGRATS!!! A Grammy is a life long dream of mine.
