Yes, seems like the iD14 would be a really good choice and for a low price.
But if I decide to stick with Pro tools then I think the Apogee Duet with latest Pro Tools included would be a better deal (upgrades are only available from version 9).

Still haven't decided on which route to take but I think Andy had some really good points. I have already invested lots of time in learning Pro tools and getting used to the included effects.
I plan on making a purchase next week and at least for the day I feel like staying with Pro tools but that might change after another google session or trip to music store ...

Actually, if I were building a rig from scratch, I'd start with the Audient ID22 and an ASP880; probably the next best alternative to the likes of Burl And Dangerous Music, and I wouldn't need to pop for a monitor controller, nor invest in expensive Thunderbolt cables.

So I ordered Pro Tools Duet today and it looks like there´s a lot of good stuff included http://www.avid.com/pro-tools/all-included-plug-ins (actually made me postpone purchase of Komplete 10)
Took awhile to get over it but now I can´t wait to get started with updated equipment.

Recommendations on which additional plugin to choose would be most welcome:

I´m a guitarist so it´s leaning towards the Eleven MK from Tier3, previously I have been using an older version of Guitar rig that I don´t think is going to work in Pro tools 12

So, long story short.
I ended up canceling my Pro Tools Duet order.
Instead I got the Audient id4 and switched to Logic x
I´m sure the Duet would have been great but so far I have no regrets. I'm pleasantly surprised how easy it was to get started from scratch with Logic and the id4 sounds great. Feels like I saved a lot of money that I could spend on plugins instead

That's what it's all about, getting your money's worth, and it sounds like you ultimately made the best decision, imo!
