Dancing With Fire

Post by remmet » Tue Dec 20, 2016 3:44 am

Based on a publisher's feedback, I made some major changes to this trailer-esque piece. It's now called "Dancing With Fire" and can be found here:

I've been playing around with a couple of new sample libraries with the idea of getting back into writing orchestral and orchestral-hybrid music. This piece roughly portrays a race into battle, a battle that doesn't end well for the warriors. I'm not sure it's really trailer material, but that was the original plan. . . Anyway, turn up the volume! :)

Hi Richard,
astonishingly great, in my humble opinion it sounds like a trailer to me.
Fantastic work.

Thanks Paul! I'm glad you liked it. Now I might make an alternate version with a more esoteric chord/arpeggio structure. See where that goes. :)

Much appreciation!

Richard

Beautiful piece of work!
It is mixed really well, the dynamics are awesome, and the string section is top notch! One of my favorite parts is the marching snare. They sit just far enough back to not overpower the song. I can't say enough good things about this song!!!

Very good string sample library and good mix.
Sounds more like MIDI programming than realistic strings to me though, and I'd like to hear some more work on details in elements, like phrases and voicing.
Perhaps some more memorable and emotionally connecting melodic content.

So opposed to other replies, I feel there is room for big improvements for it still.
All this is just my opinion though. It depends on how much time you would consider spending on this track vs. how many tracks you wish to produce in a set amount of time, so no disrespect intended. It might indeed be well designed enough to get signed, I wouldn't be able to tell at this point.

Hi Richard,
I like that one! Definitely a hybrid sound, and that pulsing bass is nice against the strings. Good luck with it.
Graham (UK). Still composing a little faster than decomposing, and 100% HI.

Thank you all for your comments! Much appreciated and thanks for listening.

The piece is being signed to a library that I've had a relationship with for many years. I just need to make some alts first.

Hoping for the best.

Richard
