Insecure Login?
Anyone else getting a red padlock symbol in Firefox signifying insecure login on the forum login page?
There's a link to this page to explain what it means. I can't help but feel uneasy about it.

I also get similar warnings for some of the Taxi pages, where it says there are insecure items - usually images.

Re: Insecure Login?
Graham, I don't know, first firefox blocked my flash because it was insecure. I can't listen to taxi page songs in peer-to-peer, so I got chromium because it supposedly has flash for the linux I am using, it doesn't, but it tells me the weather channel is insecure and has an expired http certificate or something, but no problems with taxi login. Firefox doesn't have any problems with the weather channel site. I figure governments and corporations and anyone that might want my info already has it anyway, so I really don't give a rat's *ss.
Then you have scares to upgrade.

Seems like we can't win Len!
Maybe its just me then with Firefox and the forum login.
I'm using Ubuntu, so perhaps that's something to do with it.
At least the main Taxi site seems OK now.

Re: Insecure Login?
Hi Graham,
Only the forum is (apparently) not https - not the Taxi main site, which of course is. Has nothing to do with your OS, I don't think (how do you like Ubuntu, BTW?! I've been thinking about giving it a try). I wouldn't worry about it unless you are re-using a password I'm on Chrome which says my connection is also 'insecure'.

Hi Len,
Ubuntu (using the Gnome front end) works great for me. I've been on it for about 5 years and I've found it a lot less troublesome and fraught with issues than the common alternative, although I only use it for email, web browsing and minor utilities. I've not tried Debian, so hows that for you?how do you like Ubuntu, BTW?!

Re: Insecure Login?
I chose debian because I have an old single core AMD 64bit processor, and they had a package for it. I use it for web browsing.
I've also managed to install a few other programs like Audacity, Sonic Visualiser, Freemind, Rosegarden, a couple synths, just in case I don't want to start up my other computer for simpler musical items. It works well.
I have chromium and firefox web browsers. I can't seem to figure out how to get flash, so I can't listen to taxi postings in peer-to-peer
only places like soundcloud.
If a program isn't in the package manager, I can't for the life of me figure out how to install it! I'm not that well versed in linux.

Re: Insecure Login?
I look forward to the day when we can do meaningful DAW work on a Linux distrib. Hoping it won't be too long. Even people who stick with Mac or PC would benefit from there being a mainstream third choice, I think. I'd love to see something like Reaper on Linux. Anybody try Traction on Ubuntu?
