Lullaby Listing I need ears.

Post by mobster85 » Sun Feb 19, 2017 11:15 am

I wrote this for this listing and I think I am there but just wanted to share and see if there are any other opinions out there. The ending piano Layer may be ringing out too long at the end. It creates an A minor so I may change that. Thanks for your help. I very much appreciate it. By the way the picture is of my grandson Maddox 4 years ago.

Got some cool, original Lullaby Instrumentals? Great, we’ve got a an awesome company that needs to update its stash with some groovy new tunes for the little tykes!

ORIGINAL LULLABY INSTRUMENTALS are needed by the CEO of a very active and successful Music Library for TV, Film, Commercials, and Toy Licensing. Even Lullabies don’t always age gracefully, so this company needs to freshen up their stash of baby-friendly Instrumentals.

Please send them some Down-to-Mid Tempo Lullaby Instrumentals that would make you yawn like this broad range of examples:

“Go To Sleep Lullaby Instrumental”

“Baby Lullabies for Bedtime”

“Rock-a-Bye-Baby”

Give them full-length, original, soothing Lullaby Instrumentals with simple melodies and light, delicate arrangements.

It’s not rocket science, so don’t be afraid to create a simple, yet awesomely catchy melody and do NOT try to win Composer of the Year with this pitch. We know that repetition can be boring, but isn’t that the point?!

Your instrumentation can include (but doesn’t need to be limited to) acoustic piano, electric piano, nylon or steel string acoustic guitars, bells, flutes, violins, vibraphone, cellos, and even a children’s toy piano or xylophone. You can use any instruments that are mellow enough to put even the most restless child to sleep! Avoid any harsh sounds or anything that would startle a baby.

All submissions should be about 3 – 5 minutes long (give or take). Faded or Non-Faded endings are both okay for this pitch. Do NOT copy or rip off the references in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, tone, texture and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).

TAXI Tip: Dated, old recordings might be the reason this library needs to update its catalog of Lullabies. Good, clean, modern recordings that don’t sound dated should be appreciated.

This company offers an EXCLUSIVE deal. You’ll split all upfront sync fees 50/50. They’ll get 100% of the Publisher’s share, and you’ll get 100% of the Writer’s share. You must own or control 100% of your Master and Copyright. Since this is an EXCLUSIVE deal, please be sure the material you submit for this pitch is NOT already signed with any other Libraries or Catalogs. Please submit one to three Instrumentals online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis - No full critiques. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59PM (PST), Friday, February 24th, 2017. TAXI #Y170224LI

HEY BOB, Very nice has that child like melody. My only 2 cents is the timbre of the lead instrument it has a hard sound you might want to try a Celesta a much softer sound or possibly an epiano. just a thought . you did capture that melody.

Hello Bob,
Very nice simple melody. I, too, would agree with experimenting with the lead sound. As far as the ring out, it seems appropriate with a natural decay. I believe this listing stated a faded ended was ok.
Nice work.

I think it sounds good, Bob.

(One thing that makes me suspicious of this listing is the mix of the a las.)

Best of luck!

The second take is better, but they were both good. I think you nailed it. I also submitted to this listing (http://www.philsmith.com/SarahsSong.mp3). Good luck to us both!
