Epic Movie Trailer Forward!

Post by Fullertime » Mon Feb 20, 2017 2:04 pm

I was super stoked to discover that my song "into the beyond" was forwarded for a movie trailer spot! I've been trying to get my foot in the door in this area so fingers crossed that something may happen to it !

Even though it was a forward, the screener still left some really great advice on how to improve it to increase its chance of licensing . That's what I love about Taxi. They really do want us to be successful and increase our chances by giving us great advice! Thanks screener #387!

Here Is the track :
https://soundcloud.com/fullertime/into-the-beyond

I really learned a lot in these forums and the song is a result of about two years of constant tweaking and taking great advice from all you fellow taxi members.

Here is the listing:
S170202EI

EPIC, HYBRID TRAILER INSTRUMENTALS are needed by a Large, cutting edge Music Licensing Company that has tons placements in TV and Films. They're looking for dramatic, Mid-Tempo Instrumentals that have the intensity and Three Act arrangement of a typical Feature Film Trailer. Please listen to the following examples to get in the general ballpark of what they need: "Echelon" (Mortal Instruments trailer music): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bYC-BQXyaM0 "We Are The Resistance" by Kings & Creatures: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oLztq3GayXk "Creation of Earth" by Thomas Bergersen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aIDrEvJ8zq8 Please give them well-crafted Trailer Instrumentals that deliver a powerful, compelling energy. The structure of your instrumental should be what you'd typically hear in film trailers. Your Instrumental should start with slow build and progress into a dramatic climax. Using a Three Act arrangement will make your piece more desirable for end users. Your arrangement should make use of a variety of Electronic and Orchestral instrumentation such as risers, pads, hits, stings and even some minimal vocal chants. All submissions should be at least two and a half minutes long, with good edit points and big, dramatic stinger endings. Do NOT copy or rip off the referenced music in any way, shape, or form. Use it only as a general guide for feel, texture, tone, and vibe. Broadcast quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine). This company offers an EXCLUSIVE deal, so please be sure your material is NOT already signed to any other Libraries or Catalogs. They split sync fees 50/50. You'll keep 100% of your Writer's share and they'll keep 100% of the Publishing. You must own or control 100% of your Master and Copyright. Broadcast quality is needed (great home recordings are fine). Please submit one to three Instrumentals online or per CD. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by a TAXI screener handpicked by the Publisher and must be received no later than 11:59PM (PST), on Thursday, February 2nd, 2017. TAXI #S170202EI

Peace!
Fuller

Congrats Fuller! I love how you "tease" the tension from the start and slowly build on it throughout each act. Great tones too - what are you using?

I was lucky to get a forward for this as well - I will post shortly. Like you, I REALLY appreciated the feedback from screener #387. It was some of the best I've received as it provided specific, detailed ideas for how I could improve my piece to increase its chance of licensing (thank you screener #387!)

BTW, this might be a newbie question: does anyone know WHAT Taxi actually "forwards" to the library? Is it the physical MP3 as it was when they listened to it? Or, is it a link to the file on our Taxi page? I'm asking because screener #387's feedback was so helpful that I'd like to run to my studio and implement now! :D :D

Congrats again Fuller. Fingers crossed that we both get calls soon!

Hi Fuller,
Great track! I hope it does well for you.

I've had that too, but been a bit confused by it. Isn't it too late once your track's been forwarded?

Thanks Peter!!

I used quite a bit of different libraries. The front end was a combination of Omnisphere, Scenes From The Multiverse & Random Kontakt Komplete Instruments including Damage... The end was all that plus some distorted guitars, Zebra Synth and some Spitfire Albion orchestral Strings and brass! It tested the limits of my Mac Mini:) lol

It's definitely too late for that actual listing... BUT, by the time a potential library calls you and asks for it, you can make it even better. That way when they sign it, and you deliver the Final Mix Version, it has a better chance of actually getting used by an end client!

Or if it doesn't get signed, you improve it, and submit it to a new listing later in hopes of better success! Remember, the forward is only stage 1 in a 3-5 step journey! At the end of the day, constantly improving the track will maximize it's potential. Although, once a song is signed to a library, it's "DONE" in my book...

Hope this helps!

Blessings,
Fuller

Great job, love the textural variety and the tempo change near the end. Congrats!
