Metadata: some help, please?

Post by DelEngen » Wed Mar 22, 2017 4:07 pm

Hi everyone,
Newbie question(s) from me about Metadata and custom tags. I understand what metadata is, why it's important. But I can't quite figure out how to create the custom tags that are used for library music (e.g. "Featured Instrument"). Those labels and the values of those fields need to be created by us, right? And I don't know what to put in custom tags versus what to put in the comments section.

Can someone post a screenshot of their metadata for a given track and walk me through it?

Thanks!

Hey DelEngen and welcome to the forum.
AFAIK all you need to put in your metadata is the Title track, the composer(s) name(s), the artist(s) name(s) if any, the genre (recommended), and your contact details (usually email in the comments section).
As an additional step, you could add the following:
BPM
Scale
Year
Website
Phone Number
PRO IPI Number

Hope that answers your question,
edmond redd
