SERIOUS FILM/TRAILER MUSIC COMPOSERS

Post by wings » Sat Dec 26, 2009 4:44 pm

SERIOUS FILM/TRAILER MUSIC COMPOSERS needed by a Leading International Music Production Company representing composers of Film, Television, Commercials, and Video Games. They are not looking to license tracks for this particular request, but hoping to find talented trailer music composers to sign and represent. They would like to hear cinematic/prolific/apocalyptic/epic type orchestral instrumentals that display your musical talents and recording abilities. They prefer working with composers who have some film/TV credits (although not required to be considered), so please mention credits in your bio if you have any. Broadcast quality needed (excellent home recordings are okay). Please submit two to three instrumentals online or per CD, include bio.
How long should the demo be for this?

TIA :)

I'm not really sure, but I'm submitting two different 2 minute long pieces to this one. Maybe too long for trailer music, but that what I'm doing.

I believe 2:30 is the longest a film trailer can be due to industry agreements.

From what I remember from a TAXI TV episode, trailers are usually in three sections. Also, a trailer may use several pieces of music to fit those sections. So as far as length, I would think 2 minutes is good since it gives time to develop what ever you are trying to produce. However, if you are wanting to show that you can write a WHOLE trailer, then you should shoot for that 2:30 mark and write it in the three sections.

Here is the TAXI TV episode from 2013 http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/39419406
so you can fact-check me.

And here is a Soundcloud page of some KILLER Trailer music by Rob O. https://soundcloud.com/cruciform
