SHORT, UPBEAT SOLO PIANO RIFF CUES
Hmm, this listing showed up a while back... I had three forwards but no deal. Should I try again with new cues?
New Listing SHORT, UPBEAT SOLO PIANO RIFF CUES are needed by a really large media company for placements in several projects, including hit cable TV shows and online media. This rapidly growing industry giant is building its own In-House Music Library and will pay an initial buyout fee of $250 for 100% of the Composition and Master rights. On top of the per track fee, you will also keep 100% of the Writer’s share of the publishing and make applicable performance income. Please listen to the references to get an idea of the range of styles that could work for this pitch:
Upbeat Piano Instrumental Music

Happy Piano Music

“Giddy Girl” by Jacques Ibert

Please submit original, lively, Solo Piano Instrumental Cue Riffs that can be used for transitions between scenes in TV shows and web-based, digital content. Your submission should convey a fun and cheerful vibe, that’s super melodic. Your Instrumental Cue can be relatively simple and stripped-down as long as the overall mood is happy and emotionally upbeat. If you’re using a Virtual Piano, please make sure your patches sound like an authentic Piano! Anything that sounds synthetic, stiff, or MIDI-based won’t work for this pitch.
All submissions should be about 30 seconds in length, with Non-Faded endings. Please make sure to let your last note ring out at the end. Do NOT copy or rip off the references in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, tone, texture and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine). If you’re using Piano samples (instead of a real piano), please make sure they sound like the real thing! Because this Library offers an EXCLUSIVE deal, the music you submit for this pitch CANNOT be signed with any other publishers or catalogs.

Re: SHORT, UPBEAT SOLO PIANO RIFF CUES
I wouldn't!
The worst case scenario is that the screener isn't on the same wavelength as the person making the listing, or that the person making the listing needs more material and still hasn't got around to making the connections. There are infinite possibilities, but none that come to mind as a reason to send new material imo.

Same here. I too received a forward but never heard from the library. Not going to try again.

Re: SHORT, UPBEAT SOLO PIANO RIFF CUES
My deleted post nearby was about this pitch. It was a long post with a hundred questions I will never get the answers for so once I saw it laid out, I just thought 'what's the point'? I see every pitch as a gamble, the factors of which are time, existing material, the deal, etc etc.
The basic problem with the re-listing is that we have no idea if they liked or didn't like the material they already got almost 5 months ago. So it's hard to know how to proceed on it. No point in doing more of the same, but I would imagine most of us stuck pretty close to the ala-s. Maybe there are better ala-s (like with video) that they can't show us.
oh well. It's just one pitch. good luck guys

I'm going to listen to the ala-s again and if something different comes to mind, and I have the time, I might submit. But probably not. Lots of other opps!

Re: SHORT, UPBEAT SOLO PIANO RIFF CUES
I am currently working on these and I am not sure they are looking for 30 seconds continuous playing (which some of the examples seem to suggest) or whether they would still like to hear 'good edit points' (not expressly mentioned in the listing - if I am reading correctly).
Any thoughts?
Cheers,
Matt

Hey Matt,
I wish I had good advice about what they need, but I don't! Good luck

I'd guess no edit points. It's a "really large media company building it's own in-house music library." Meaning to me that they are new at this, maybe why it's taking some time for people to hear from the first batch of submissions. "Short 30 seconds, transitions between scenes in tv shows and web-based digital content." I'm guessing 30 seconds is the transition time. That's about the maximum time of an intro in a normal song, hardly much to edit and still sound somewhat musical imo.

Re: SHORT, UPBEAT SOLO PIANO RIFF CUES
My question is do they really mean 30 sec? I guess I get the transition thing but should you go for at least 2 minutes with 'easy edit points' for them (whoever them is ) to cut out what they want?
