Songwriter lyricist seeks writing collaborator

Post by RMCALL » Thu Jan 24, 2013 11:44 pm

I'll cut to the chase, I am a 50 something guy that has no desire to be a rock star. I love writing, have a very nice studio, write and record a lot, but really love and miss collaborating with another person when writing songs. I write and play mostly on guitar and piano, and made my living for years coast to coast in a horn band as a singer/bass player. My daughter sings a lot of my material as well.

My tastes are completely eclectic, I am influenced by older stuff like Peter Gabriel, Steely Dan, Beach Boys, CSN, and Joni Mitchell, but love a lot of newer artists like Regina Spector, Sara Bareilles, Bon Iver, and the Shins. I am easy to work with, and am not married to my ideas, if you are, it probably would not work out. Change, exploration and experimentation with a competent and open minded co-writer is dead center what I am seeking.

Here are some of my songs that are at various stages of completion

Hi RMCALL. I too am a 50ish guy though as one of my songs says.....I have wrinkles on my face but I've got twinkles in my soul..... 3 of my lyrics are on lyric lovers forum under smam60. The 3 lyrics are CHEWS NAILS FOR FUN and THROW THIS WORLD A CURVE and CONFEDERATE KIN. Please look at my 3 lyrics if you get a chance. Hope you find a collabarator as dino said" everybody needs somebody sometime. Thanks Andy

Hey Randy,

Your post caught my eye because, like you I am 50ish and have no desire to be a rock star - I just love to write and record music. I especially liked that you are into the newer stuff like The Shins as well as classic rock. My strengths are the music, arrangement and melody, not lyrics (and certainly not singing!).

In addition to classic and current rock, I am also looking to branch out into other styles of music. A project in progress is a Christmas song I have composed that needs lyrics and vocals (I listened to "When the Ghost of Christmas" and the female vocals are what I imagined for this tune....your daughter?).

Below is a link to the song. The melody and arrangement is implied, but certainly not cast in stone. Have a listen and let me know if you are interested in collaborating on it as a first step to get to know one another.

Hi Randy,

We've interacted over at SoundCloud a little bit. (my page soundcloud.com/TimBehrens). I already know that I'm a fan of your music, and you've said some very kind things about what I've written. I had just forgotten that this post was how I came across your stuff. If you are still looking, I would definitely love to talk about collaborating on something.
