Strongest Man in the World (A Father's Day Song)

Post by GlennPageMusic » Wed Jun 19, 2013 9:08 am

Lyrics but no music for this one yet.

"Strongest Man in the World"

No he can't pull a monster truck by using just his teeth
And he can't lift an elephant while trembling underneath
But when it came to raising us, well you may not have heard
So let me tell you my dad
Is the strongest man in the world

He can't make a moving train stop dead in its tracks
And he can't hurl an aeroplane up to the moon and back
But if you mention giving up he'll yell "That's absurd!"
There ain't no doubt that my dad
Is the strongest man in the world

'Cause all day long he cares for us
From morn `til setting sun
And all that love he's carrying
Well, it must weigh a ton

He don't need no big parade, gold trophies in a case
No accolades, serenades, a glove that shouts, "FIRST PLACE!"
He won't ask for nothing, no matter what he deserves
So let me just say "Thank you" to the strongest man in the world
Don't you know that my dad
Is the strongest man in the world

I like this, it's really well written.

Great title, especially like the opening two lines.
A great tribute to Dads everywhere.

Worked out a tune/chord progression; but have no home recording gear on which to make a quickie demo.
Will send what I've got via PM...or email if you leave it for me...if you're interested.
I may have a local buddy who's got some gear who might help me "pro bono" if you really want to hear the melody idea.
Your call.
Like your idea.
Cheers.

should you like it.

I like the imagery and the way the rhymes seem natural, not forced.

I can only hope someone sings this song about me one of these days.

Nice one Glen,

Just a little suggestion, you could consider making the lyrics and melodic flow on the last two lines of each verse sound more conversational by constructing it the way it would sound in speech, like;

So let me tell you
My dad is the strongest man in the world

There ain't no doubt
That my dad is the strongest man in the world

So let me just say
"Thank you" to the strongest man in the world
Don't you know
That my dad is the strongest man in the world

Just a thought though, but if you've already worked out the melody, I'm sure it's no biggie. Like I said beautiful lyrics.

Nice work, really like this, especially like:

'Cause all day long he cares for us
From morn `til setting sun
And all that love he's carrying
Well, it must weigh a ton

Nice way to complete the thought with those lines

Good write.

Thank you so much for taking the time to make suggestions, Oma! The melody I have (now) does seem to flow very well with the original structure, but I really appreciate the suggestion! I'm sure it also wouldn't hurt if I try to switch it around a bit, meter-wise, from time to time!

Sincerely,
Glenn
