My UAD-2 card is used on every piece I mix.

imagine if John Williams and Trent Reznor met at Bernard Hermann's for lunch and Brian Eno was the head chef!

Big like on this one. Maybe this is more of the sound of my mixes than the VCC.

Incredible piece of gear though.

without a doubt, the fender g-dec amp. it looks like a toy practice amp, but it's essentially the ultimate galactic guitar sound machine, limitless choices of everything, puuurfect tones.

Ha, funny how things change. I'm lusting after a camera lens that costs as much as an Apollo. I'll probably get the lens first! LOL!! I already have so much music gear and nothing is slowing me down except my own workflow these days, so an upgrade to my time/self management is going to be a much better investment!! That and the Canon 70-200 F2.8 IS II

Yup me as well.

My name is Seth, I have a problem. I'm a UAD addict.

Runner up? Probably XLN stuff.

Logically? My keyboard, of which I control my musical universe with. Or would it be the mouse?

Like you, Mazz - I need to focus on time management and focus skills more than gear. My current setup is really solid, and I don't really want for anything right now. But it is more fun to shop for gear than focus on time management - something I am working on by limiting my FB time and setting certain times for internet use.

I might have to go UAD-2 as well. I just got the Precision Limiter and really like it for mastering (I am closer to sounding like I know what I'm doing). At the risk of going off topic, what UAD-2 plug ins do others like?

One I've really been using on every mix since I purchased it and just does what is says on tin is SampleMagic AB plugin. It's not impressive and is not an effect, but it just allows the A/B process to work within a DAW in a very smooth and efficient way. In the pass, I would A/B a lot, but it became tiresome and took a bit of fiddling out of the workflow. I Also, tried to do something similar with Battery, but that would result in weird routing chains inside the mix session just to get the levels somewhere near helpful. I eventually just stopped doing that all together for a couple years. This plugin however, fits perfectly for something that just about everyone knows will help your mix. All you do is load your reference tracks, and you have a simple A/B process, all with the correct levels and metering specific to the plugin.

I place mine after any Master Bus effects, but before anything like ARC. When used with a Mid-Side encode/decoder(MSED), any decent Linear Phase Eq, and a Spectrum Analyzer(Span), you can compare your mix directly with each section of your reference track mix (Mid Front and Back - Side Front and Back). For the mixingly challenged like myself, it is really helping make my tracks sound better, at least to me. Possibly the most noticeable help I've had on that front in a few years, beyond books and videos.

Now that I think about it, it would be awesome if they included the Mid Side, Front Back functionality. That would really make it a one stop shop for comparing your mix accurately to other tracks very quickly.

Anyway, I really like it and thought people on the board my want to check it out.

Take it easy,
Chuck

I use NI Massive and Absynth on every track nowdays...

And I also use NI FM8 alot just because Michael Laskow says not to use the Yamaha DX7 and that's the closest thing I can find.
