Painting Over The Cracks

Post by shanereaction » Wed Apr 02, 2014 3:25 pm

Here's another female country-pop lyric I'm working on at the minute.

Painting Over The Cracks
(S. Telford)

Sometimes I wear mascara
to track my tear's journey
And watch them form a river
That trickles so slowly.
But when I wear my lipstick
I see you get paranoid
I just like the colour
A red to fill the void.

There's no need to worry
You don't know the facts
I'm just painting over the cracks.
There's nothing to tell you
So you can relax
I'm just painting over the cracks.
I'm just hiding all of my cracks.

Sometimes I paint my fingers
To watch the polish dry
Wonder if it works on cheeks
It might be worth a try
But when I get my hair cut
I can see your jealousy
You don't need to panic
I do it all for me.

There's no need to worry
You don't know the facts
I'm just painting over the cracks.
There's nothing to tell you
So you can relax
I'm just painting over the cracks.
I'm just hiding all of my cracks.

I can't let you see
I won't let you in
You'll never know
What's under my skin.
I hide it from you
I hide it from me
This ain't the way
It's supposed to be.

There's no need to worry
You don't know the facts
I'm just painting over the cracks.
There's nothing to tell you
So you can relax
I'm just painting over the cracks.
I'm just hiding all of my cracks.
