Songs about water

Post by mladendomic » Sun Apr 06, 2014 11:32 am

SONGS about DRINKING WATER are needed by an A-List Hollywood Music Supervisor working on a Documentary Film. He's thirsty (pardon the pun) for Songs with Male or Female Vocals with lyric themes relating to fresh, clean, DRINKING WATER.

He's interested in hearing Songs in ALL TEMPOS and ALL GENRES, as long as they have lyrics about water, pure water, cold water, water is life, etc.
Quoting the Music Supervisor: "It's okay for the lyrics to be literal and right on the nose for this pitch. That's what I'm looking for! Clean drinking water is a huge issue that this film is dealing with, and I need a song with lyrics that will help us bring this issue into the light."

The right lyric theme and message are more important than the genre or style for this pitch. Please avoid anything that's too somber or dark. On the other hand, don't be silly either! They need the perfect song to play during a montage of people receiving fresh drinking water in an environment where it's typically very hard to come by. This is definitely one of those situations where the Supervisor will know the right song when he hears it, and plays it against the scene.

...

TAXI TIP: Please stick to the lyric theme of drinkable water, water satisfying a thirst, etc.. Please avoid submitting songs just because they have the word "water" in them! Smoke on the Water, or Hands Across the Water won't work for this film.

...

And here's the lyrics:

WATER KNOWS

If you ever feel the thirst
In the middle of your dreams
In the middle of your desert
You can find a hidden, magic well
Water knows

You can cry without tears
But you'll never be alone
We share clouds
Every time we close our eyes
Water knows

There are rivers to discover
There are borders to ignore
Just a simple glass of water
And your heart is overflowed
Water knows

The blood is thick in our veins
That is hard to understand
What we share
Is what makes us what we are
Water knows

I would like to ask you for your general opinion (is it understandable from the point of pictures and story), and especially about "on the nose" part of the listing: is it "on the nose" enough or is it too vague for the supervisors demand?

Thank you all!

Mladen,

It appears to read ok, but to hear it in context with the music would make most sense.
Do you have a link to the song?

Thank you, Peter.
I know what you mean.
That's why I put it into "Lyric Lovers" part of the Forum: I have the music, and I'm waiting for my singer to come today and record the words. It's just - being non-american I wanted to check if the words make sense, do they transfer the message good enough, and do they cover the "on the nose" condition of the listing.
Hopefully, I'll put all together soon and present to you.
Soon.
:-)
Thanx

Didn't make it.
My vocalist didn't show.
Next time maybe.
One more "thank you" to all of you!
