Longest Road
(S. Telford)
I took a wrong turn
Down the longest road
I felt my feet burn
As my heartbeat slowed
I watched the sky fall
And the stars explode
I took a wrong turn
Down the longest road
Mile after mile
I tread the loneliest steps
Time after time
I get lost and forget
Where I'm heading to
And what I'm gonna do
When I get there.
I walked a long way
Down a dead end lane
I watched the clouds play
As they emptied rain
I saw the sun set
And the stars explode
I took a wrong turn
Down the longest road
Mile after mile
I tread the loneliest steps
Time after time
I get lost and forget
Where I'm heading to
And what I'm gonna do
When I get there
Destination I don't know
Or where this path I'm on will go
Destination I don't care
This road could take me anywhere
Mile after mile
I tread the loneliest steps
Time after time
I get lost and forget
Where I'm heading to
And what I'm gonna do
When I get there
Longest Road (possibly a pop ballad)

Shane:
I suggest posting a comment or question with your lyric.
In general I would say take the best of this - write a chorus out of it - then right verses around the chorus with details of story that lead into that chorus. It's a good start.

Re: Longest Road (possibly a pop ballad)
Most definitely a great start. One line that doesn't seem "real" to me is: "I watched the clouds play" but that could be subjective. I think a hair more detail would make this baby shine. Nice work all in all out of the gate.
