can't believe how big janiva has gotten over the years. an old friend of mine used to be her boyfriend and guitarist back in the 80's. now he's just and old dude who gets together with me for lunch every week or so, and we feed the pigeons...

Terrell - this one was cool because it was the artist herself who was screening for the listing. I didn't know it at the time, but she wrote back that she was taking it right to her producer. This was also, as I remember, at about this time last year - right before Christmas when I get the forward. Then at the beginning of Feb she contacted me, said she was definitely interested and she'd like to record it right away. We signed a basic agreement - she recorded it - the CD came out late June and it was in the Top 3 on the Blues charts all summer long way into September. Since that time it is still in the top 20. What that means in total sales I do not know. Because of iTunes my song also appeared on the singles charts a few times also. I will find out more when I receive my first royalties. The agreement is "within 60 days of Dec 31st". It's actually twice a year, with June 30th being the other time, but the DC was released June 24th.

So we'll see. I have to also contact ASCAP to make sure that I receive royalties for her performances of the song since she did extensive touring. So much to do and know!
