I Don’t Get it!
I spend days, weeks, sometimes months on a piece ( not always to great effect) I should say and what’s my best RF seller?
A whistling piece that I put together in less than an hour because I thought I should have a whistling piece in my catalogue.

I also got a track like this...took me more time, but it's unique and happy. We should write more of that...

Hey Michael,
Life is full of little humbling ironies like this. On a brighter note, take it where you can get it... I'd say
Peace
Steve

Re: I Don’t Get it!
Thanks Walter and Steve.
And talking of ironies!!!!!
Not long ago I was droning on about how many tracks I was working on.
Now I am stuck in the musical doldrums.
Haven’t struck up my DAW for days, don’t have the slightest intention or inclination to.
The joy of making music has completely gone from my life.
Looking on the bright side.
I’m getting jobs done around the house that are long overdue.
Michael.

Re: I Don’t Get it!
Oh I get it dear Michael,
It is very similar to learning Calligraphy, or SkateBoarding, or to learning how to play the Clarinet, etc.
When we begin we are clumsy, after a little while less clumsy.
But it is still very much an effort from our ability to concentrate and to apply ourselves.
We get better and better, and we smile at our progresses. We are getting good at this stuff ... !
And we pursue our work with confidence.
And one day, something happens.
We don't know how it happens because we are not really there.
Something has come out of ourselves in the way of a simple Composition, something that was so easy to do, we were just instrumental to let it happen.
Et voila. This is how Human Beings learn.
This is how great Musicians or great Ice Skaters or great Writers achieve their Craft.
Reaching that point where something else takes place through our Minds, or our legs, or our fingers, or our Keyboards.
Enjoy the rest of the day, dear Michael, this is good news !

Just wait, dear Michael, everything happens for a reason, and under the Sky there are many Seasons and many Reasons.
You cannot force yourself to compose, it is similar to forcing a Child to eat.
So wait, and do not be anxious or worried.
The Music is in you, and it is going nowhere fast. It is just a break. Take it easy.
And listen to that which is happening. Clues will come to you soon ...

Re: I Don’t Get it!
Michael, maybe it's time to take on a collaborated project!
I know that the music I've been doing with Dan Luedke has kept me super inspired.
Just a thought...

Re: I Don’t Get it!
Michael,
I went thru something like this last year.....it was not fun. I went a couple of weeks not even opening the DAW either. I thought in the first week it would pass quick, but when it got to the third week, I was in a panic!
What I did was force myself to go back and start remixing some older tunes for a couple of days. It didn't help right off, but after a few days, I started to get some inspiration again. Don't know if that will help you, but that's how it worked out for me.
We all go thru this at some point.....hang in there and it'll work out.
Steve
