In the Middle of Everywhere ©2014 Robert George BMI
Although love and loneliness have each tormented me
Love by far has been always been a tender agony
And so when my heart is cut by what it cannot have
Wanderlust has often soothed it like a healing salve
Because fate regards us all as fodder
For the wayward wind, the earth and water
And yet travel feeds such sweet transcendence
To my spirit, tissues, bones and tendons
And my caged and restless mem’ries can maneuver
Down the streets of Memphis and Vancouver
So if you care to, if you dare to
You will find me there
Though I’m lost in love
I’m in the middle of
In the middle of everywhere
Some feel that with sadness we must all be sensible
But for me it’s madness that’s been indispensible
All things have their blessings and you’ll see me countin’ mine
In the Cardiff poppy or the table mountain pine
Because fate regards us all as fodder
For the wayward wind, the earth and water
And yet travel feeds such sweet transcendence
To my spirit, tissues, bones and tendons
I have seen endurance in the purple dahlia
And Bakara market in Somalia
So if you care to, if you dare to
You will find me there
Though I’m lost in love
I’m in the middle of
In the middle of everywhere
Like a pile of bones in a grizzly’s hidden cave
Love has dragged my wounded dreams toward a certain grave
But it’s in the rain distilled from a Highland loch
That my crippled heart can pick up its mat and walk
Because fate regards us all as fodder
For the wayward wind, the earth and water
And yet travel feeds such sweet transcendence
To my spirit, tissues, bones and tendons
And my caged and restless mem’ries can maneuver
In the skies of Memphis and Vancouver
So if you care to, if you dare to
You will find me there
Though I’m lost in love
I’m in the middle of
In the middle of everywhere
In the Middle of Everywhere
