taxi tv ralph murphy

did anyone catch monday's tv taxi show? man it was so nice to listen to ralph murphy talk about the whole industry. he rendered entire shelves of 'how to' music books obsolete with one statement, on a number of topics...what an old pro!

Ashamed to say I fell asleep with his face right in front of me. But I will watch again.

Speaking of old pro's, how are you, Richard? I haven't seen you on the streets recently ;)

pie, right on. once you work in any field long enough (30 or 40 years), you sail right past a lot of the discussion on music and business questions about "what is the right answer?". the answer usually ends up being surprisingly simple. [now, if i could just get taxi sceeners to see that  ). ralph murphy is definitely in that camp of workers and knowledge holders...it was a breath of fresh air for me to hear him convey his ideas simply without a lot of over-analysis.

nick, thanks for asking...a tech is attempting to right the ship (the untimely crashing of both my porta-studio and new computer)...but it is slow going, trying to reconstruct files one byte at a time (80 songs with 24 tracks each). however i am assured we are doing it the right way, and so i wait and do other greasy things...for instance, recording new hooks into my phone, which are starting to back up.

i shall return!

I was just at the ASCAP conference and had to share this great Ralph Murphy quote: "Hit songs aren't written, they're re-written."
