I've gotten into the Eurovision Song Contest in a big way again this year and thought I'd try to write a bit of 'different' but innocent pop like a lot of the songs showcased on it and I'm pretty happy with how they turned out. As a lyricist though, the song is missing one major thing... A composer!
So if anyone is interested in the lyrics and thinks they could lend a hand - you know how to send a private message!
Here are the lyrics:
Frogs and Princes
(S. Telford)
Books of love and romance
I fell for every word
Had faith in Cinderella
Believed that was my world.
I'd find a man to be my own
He'd be the king and have a throne
What happened to that dream?
It ended with a scream
Love's not frogs and princes
It's a heartbreak business
And there's no happy ending in my view
Love's a real bad story
Like you when you ignore me
Sometimes I don't know what I should do
when fairy tales don't come true.
Books of love and romance
I don't believe them now
Cinderella lied to me
I fell for it somehow.
That man has come and gone away,
That king was never gonna stay
What happened to that dream?
It ended with a scream
Love's not frogs and princes
It's a heartbreak business
And there's no happy ending in my view
Love's a real bad story
Like you when you ignore me
Sometimes I don't know what I should do
when fairy tales don't come true.
Shakespeare couldn't change my mind
I've been fooled too many times
Now I just read between the lines
Of every book and all your lies
Love's not frogs and princes
It's a heartbreak business
And there's no happy ending in my view
Love's a real bad story
Like you when you ignore me
Sometimes I don't know what I should do
When fairy tales don't come true.
Eurovision-esque
