PUBLIC DOMAIN CHILDREN'S SONGS (vocals?)

Post by addhitman » Sat May 10, 2014 4:04 pm

Would anyone know if this listing is for instrumentals or vocals? Thanks in advance :)

PUBLIC DOMAIN CHILDREN'S SONGS are needed by a Music Supervisor for a very popular Daytime Talk Show on a Major Broadcast Network. She's actively searching for upbeat, fun, contemporary versions of songs like "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star," "Itsy Bitsy Spider," "Hush-A-By-Baby," "Pop Goes The Weasel," etc. Please check out the link below for a more complete list of Songs that you can choose from:

http://bit.ly/1llYLYw

But don't stop there! You may know of songs that are not on the list above. That's okay! As long as the Song is in the Public Domain, it will be considered for this placement. Quoting the Music Supervisor: "I need a song which incorporates something young, like a glockenspiel. There has to be a sound and tone that's appropriate for, and instantly associated with Children's music. Keep it young, upbeat, and fun. We don't want anything that sounds too sophisticated or mature." You'd be wise to stay away from any dance club re-mixes for this pitch ;-)

Your song can be in ANY stylistic genre, as long as it has a CONTEMPORARY sound. She's NOT looking for old-timey, dated, or traditional sounding versions for this use. ALL tempos will be considered, but songs in the Goldie Locks range (Not too fast--Not too slow) should work best. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).

There will be a license fee of $500 for use of the Master only. This is a Direct-to-Music-Supervisor pitch so you'll keep 100% of the Master rights, plus you'll also get 100% of the sync fee and any applicable performance royalties. You must own or control 100% of the Master to pitch for this opportunity. Please do not submit any material with unauthorized samples of other artists' songs, sounds, or any other form of media. All songs will be screened on a Yes/No basis. No full critiques. Please submit 1-3 Songs no later than THURSDAY, May 15th, by 10am (PDT). TAXI #U140515CH

Dear Addhitman,

Because the word "Song" is mentioned several times, my guess is that the Listing is asking for a Song with Vocals.

You can call TAXI : 1-800 458 2111 or send an e-mail, something like that : Tom@taxi.com , no problem.

I don't know about this listing but I heard a hard rock version of Itsy bitsy spider on a spiderman toy commercial.
It rocked. Hmmm wonder of it was from a taxi member?

Dear Rudy,

I am listening to : "Wheels on the Bus"
Woah, definitively a Contemporary sound. Very well done on that one indeed !
The Female Singer is very nicely articulate, which is very good.
There is a simple catching Melody, with appropriate repetitions.
Nice Guitar Solo at the end.
I am impressed.
You will tell us when you have a Forward, yes ?
Because you have achieved to create a Song for Children that is according to the Listing. like that : "She's NOT looking for old-timey, dated, or traditional sounding versions for this use."

Ok; I am listening to : "Old McDonald Had a Farm"
A very nice Americana feels, the Tempo is lovely. The Female Singer is confident, and delivers the Lyrics with great adequacy. It is clear.
Nice Percussion. Love the Bass also.
Well, it is very good. A wee bit Jazzy.
I can see a second Forward with that one indeed !

I am listening to : "Itsy Bitsy Spider"
Ah nice Jazzy feels, a lovely choice of Instrumentation with the South American Flute in particular.
Snare Percussion. It feels light, very appropriately, as a Spider is a small thing ! :)
I am again impressed by the clarity with which the Female Singer renders the Song. This is what you want when you compose for Children.
Nice Guitar Solo.
Well, this should be a third Forward.

The three Songs are totally Pro, and completely appropriate for this Listing. All three Songs are winners.

Please come back to us, with the results, in time, and share the Screeners Critiques if you are so inclined.

You are a nice TRIO ! :) ;)

Hector,

Not too often we you see a request for PD Children's Music and we thought it was a "no brainer".
Of course this was our very first submission on TAXI and we did not get a forward.
Unfortunately there was no explanation. Really appreciate your feedback and taking the time to listen.

We also submitted to another Children's Music request which was due Tuesday, June 17, 2014. TAXI # S140617CH

This posting ended a week ago and the our submission status says "Pending"......awaiting critique....Does this mean we still have a chance of getting a forward?

This Children's Record Label has sold MILLIONS of CDs, something even the Majors have a hard time doing these days. If you've got some CHILDREN'S SING-A-LONG SONGS you'd like to get to a truly excellent company with a great reputation, then please get them to us no later than TUESDAY!

CHILDREN'S SING-A-LONG SONGS with Male or Female Vocals are needed by a very prominent Children's Record Label for a compilation album. Give them ORIGINAL and fresh songs in the stylistic ballpark of The Wheels On The Bus, Skip To My Lou, Pop Goes The Weasel, etc. Quoting the source: "I'm not looking for educational songs or lullabies for this one. Songs need to be fun and playful with easy lyrics that children will understand. Themes can't be too mature. Age range is around 3-7 years old." Submit Mid-to-Up-Tempo Songs that instantly grab and hold the attention of the little tykes in the age range mentioned. Your production must be clear and focused, with an inviting vocal performance. Please submit one to three songs online or per CD, include lyrics.

Dear Rudy,

Yes, ... pending, ... awaiting Critique, means that it is in process. You still have a chance to have a Forward.

And I wish sincerely that you do ! :) ;)
