Addictive Drums 2 is out

Post by kclements » Tue May 13, 2014 4:02 am

Hello -

AD2 has been released into the wild. I have been using it for a while now and there are some very nice improvements. Really like the new look and feel, improved eq, and I think the browser is much better. I also like the new FlexiSlots and Snapshots. And they now have Drag and Drop from AD2 to you DAW.

You can read all about it here: http://www.xlnaudio.com/addictivedrums

If you purchased AD1 on or after March 1st, 2014 - free upgrade. Purchased in January or February, 2014, 50% off the upgrade prices: Upgrades are $79.95 for AD2, $99.95 to move to vs 2.0 + any ADPak. Free upgrades for any ADPaks you already have.

There is also a new AD Pak - Fairfax Vlm 1: http://www.xlnaudio.com/en/products/view/176 I haven't had a chance to use it yet.

cheers -

The Fairfax Vol One kit sounds amazing! Sadly, my aging, nigh-decrepit XP machine isn't handling AD2's larger footprint all that well. [sigh] Guess it's long past time to upgrade to a 64-bit OS, LOL. The upgrade is still way worthwhile though, given the new functionality, new presets, new beats, improved organization, architecture and effects, etc., and the more ADPaks you have installed already, the better the deal. As long as you're upgrading, I'd suggest opting for the bundle that includes the Fairfax kit; it's AD's best yet.

Yep, the Fairfax kit is great. Funny, I fell in love with Black Velvet when I got it, and now I'm feeling the same way about Fairfax. They're both really natural-sounding kits that mix easily.

Best part about AD2, honestly, are the trigger slots. I've always found that the snares were lacking a little something, and blending in just a little bit of the snare trigger for punch makes a big difference in the sound of the kits.

I picked it up for the jazz brushes (the swirls) only. Sounds good for sure!

AD2 is great. The fairfax kit has sheen and punch, and sits in most of my mixes like butter on corn-bread. I love the enhancements they did to the built in effects, the compression/noise sections are golden. I have yet to spelunk through all the features in it, but that's probably more of a testament to how good it sounds right out the box than anything else.
