Should I bring this up to Michael?

Post by Piewackit1 » Thu Jul 17, 2014 10:52 am

I got a return for low vocals. Here is the review:

- i do think i would have been able to forward it if the vocal in the verse was more audible. i don't feel the lyrics would be heard if this was used as accompaniment to a tv/film visual. that, unfortunately, makes it impossible for me to forward. again, the filtered vocal sound is cool, and not at all a problem - just the vocal level. the rest of the song is excellent, with a great rockin' groove, a cool vibe-y guitar figure, strong melody and a solid vocal. best of luck

I posted the song to Soundcloud and Taxi at the same time...or one after the other. Anyway, the vocals seem more faded on the Taxi version. Please listen to the Soundcloud version and tell me if you think the vocals are way too low. If they are too low on the Soundcloud version then I know the Taxi version is as well. Thanks.

I gotta side with the screener on this one. Another 3-5 decibels on the vocals might do the trick. But to my ears, the screener is right... vocals sound pretty buried to me.

Same here, they are a bit low.
Really cool tune though! That's gonna work!

I like the affect on the vocals but I agree need to come up

I'm really impressed with this one.

Turn the vocals up and I think this will get forwards for Indie Rock, Contemporary Blues Rock, etc.

This is a really cool song, lyrics, performance, the whole thing. Funny that the more distorted vocal in the verse, although I agree it's hard to hear a lot of the words, is actually easier to hear than the chorus (that didn't sound distorted). The music overall (other than the vocal) seemed to get very loud during the chorus which seemed to contribute to drowning out the vocal. Of course I played it loud  :!: The first half a line of chorus words is especially very hard to hear. I read along so I knew what you were saying, but yeah, I agree, the screener had it right.

Again, really awesome song.

Thanks for all the replies. I guess I should stop my gripe and just raise the vocals. I hear it more like Bob does...where the vocals in the chorus are more buried than the verses. I'm just pissed I didn't hear it before I submitted.

Anyway, thanks again for listening and the kind words about the song.

My initial reaction was to crank the up the volume, which I did, and to my delight it sounds great! I don't think since vinyl have I had the opportunity to do that without blowing out my ear drums.

This song just came up on my Soundcloud randam play and it sounded much clearer lyrically. Did you make adjustments? IMHO vocals could still be slightly more forward, but I was wondering if you did a remix. I was listening in the car this time so wasn't sure if it was the environment change or it was redone.

Still, awesome tune.
