Need bagpipes.... never thought I'd say that

Post by teleblaster » Fri Jul 25, 2014 5:54 pm

Got an email from a publisher, he has a director that likes a piece of mine, and has requested that I add bagpipes and other Scottish elements to it. Any recommendations on bagpipe samples. I see that EWQL's Goliath has 'pipes and other highlander instruments in it, anyone know if they're any good?
Thanks in advance

Hello

I don't own any of their libraries, but I have heard good thing about Boulder sounds. They have a bagpipe library for $40. Might be worth checking out

Hope that helps,
Cheers

Thanks Casey, the samples for that plug sound really good. I don't own the full version of Kontakt though and not sure I want to make that plunge at this time. I wound up buying this loop library http://www.zero-g.co.uk/store/celtic-wa ... s-p270.php Hopefully it will get this job done, if not that plugin, or perhaps EWQL's Goliath will be the next thing I try. Goliath, along with lots of other stuff has some celtic samples.

This is a really challenging task. The director chose a solo acoustic blues guitar piece of mine, and asked if I could add celtic elements to it, including pipes... Just call me 'Blind Willie O'Doole'

And here's the track with 3 Scottish/Celtic elements added. I sliced and diced the snares and Overton flute using loops from a Celtic library made by Zero-G. The bagpipes were a relatively cheap plugin from http://soundbytes.de/ I'd have to say this was the the strangest assignment I've had in 5 plus years of doing this work.. Here's the track
