Lyrics written based on my reflective mood

Post by mobster85 » Sat Jul 26, 2014 7:43 am

These lyrics were Written this morning. A friend of mine shot and killed himself yesterday. The song "Feet Back IOn The Ground" is an introspective look at life in general. So give me ur opinions.

V.1 When I think of all I've done
And What Im gonna do
I reflect UPON my past
While searching for my truth
Some answers might be found
I say it very loud
I got my Feet back on the ground 3 x

V.2 As i go about my day
The future's on my mind
I need to know that without me
My family will be Fine
So What i do today
Will help them in some way
To get their feet back on the ground

Man Bob, so sorry for your loss! What a dramatic way to go.
Great way to use music to describe and deal with those emotions.

I like the idea of feet back on the ground, a great start, but much to early in this writing process to apply craft/judge, imo.
I believe you won't get the full benefit from writing if you do that.

So just carry on writing everything you've got from the state the events brught you in.
Consider approaching it to be raw material at first, without thinking too much about shape and language.

This is an opportunity to do real writing, so just carry on.
Use each section to dig deeper towards the katharsis. Think about your friend.
Who was he (really)? What happened to him? How was your relationship? What should have been, for him, for you, for them.
You can always apply shape and craft afterwards to turn it into more songs.

Let's hear it, Bob, your mood and your mind. Keep writing.
Ceo of my own life
