a new one for mix review please

Post by rdance » Tue Jul 29, 2014 7:55 pm

another one this week with live drummer. (yep, believe it or not that's me singing octaves).

thought if a listing ever came up for a casino, gambling, etc., this might have a shot.

all critique and advice welcome. thank you!

I like your music in general Rich. Like the drums on this one. I'm not sure that is the feedback you are looking for...but good job on this tune.

great stuff craw

Love the lyrics in vs three. The guitar accents, and wah are killer.

Have you ever tried this in a faster bpm (10+) just for fun to see what it would sound like? It has a dance feel to me as well, but a little slow for that?

Very cool. I really study where and what you pan each song

thanks for that and good luck

Paul

Mix is great.

There are some very cool guitar sounds in there.

It obviously would be a very specific listing that this one would fit!

Your songs really stick in my craw...in a good way Richard :D :D
I could see this in a scene where the big dog, or villian struts into a casino.
The guitars and keys sound great, and the drums too. Love the tone on the snare, sounds so good. Maybe, just maybe, a db or less of 3-5 KHz more on the snare would be something to try? But either way, it sounds damn fine as is.
Always like your work Craw! Everytime I hit the play button, I know I'm in for a ride :D

Cheers,
Steve

Love it, nice punch from the kick/bass floor, and tighter than tight gtrs. 70'ies Prince vibe, imo. Nice space and air in the mix. Also love those colorful vocals. Reminds me of some great backing groups and gospel quartets.

Got nothing on the mix/ arr. Only thing is the title which IS descriptive enough, but reminds me of the 80'ies movie with Tom Cruise. Not sure if that's a bad thang or a good thing as this ain't no 80'ies ditty. "Breaking the house" could be good as "I'm going green" is probably more Kermit from the Muppets..

Sry, it's a duh comment :D

man i really appreciate the quick response time, so we can tweak the mix thursday with your ideas and move on...i think we are at 9 songs done and 13 to go. trying to get a mini-catalog ready for the rally.

good call steve on the snare...i agree, needs just a bit more sparkle. at least we now have a mic on the bottom to pick that up, and will address.

magne, yes, was thinking about alternate titles...'bring this big house down'...'big house down'...'going green'

paul, good point...we have other tracks at more dance-able speeds...we wanted this one way down in the bucket, kinda sneaky, sexy slow jam...curtis mayfield meets prince.

thanks again er'body!
