Got some press, Taxi forum mentioned prominently

..
Me and Juliet and Marc and our band, Mad July, got some nice press. The article appears both online and in the print magazine.

The Taxi Forum is mentioned prominently several times as being where the 3 of us met, where we got unbiased peer review on our album songs and as a great tool for finding online collaborators! Thanks to all our Taxi Forum friends. Check it out:

Nice interview, Dean, and MJ does great music. But as a big fan of Juliet, I'm biased. :)

Wow, what a great article (and lengthy)

There was almost a gasp in his voice when he mentioned "folks over 60" :o

I remember many many years ago when I posted my second song. Most were negative comments, and you said,
"wait a minute, there is something pretty cool about this song" I will never forget it. Gave me confidence:)

Ok, I know I shouldn't say this, but Juliet looks as good as she sounds. Good album cover stuff

Congrats, and glad to see you back here on the forums.

sincerely

Paul

Hey Dean

Great story and great article. The internet has definitely been a big help to thoes of us who don't belong to a band or have access to a studio. Marc has also helped me tremenously. Sorry to hear about your condition, but it's like one door closed for you and another one opened up. I have someone else in my family who also has a milder form of that condition ( no amount of sleep seems to help).

Anyway, I love your songwriting and congrats to you, Marc and Juliet on the great article :)

Tom

Dean, Juliet, Marc: great story!! It gives me hope :)
For many years I limited myself to only pay attention to a song idea that came spontaneously, and virtually complete with lyrics and music. The only effort I put into it was teaching myself how to play the song (guitar or plunky keyboard) until I could play it almost by muscle-memory only.
There were times I'd lock my office door and play the same song for hours...
like as many as 8 a few times. :?

Since learning of Taxi and this forum
(still can't afford to join yet... MAYBE by rally time; slim chance)
but it has opened up the world of taking a nugget of an idea... perhaps only the title...
and working at being creative. I, too, ventured into my first collaboration ever via this forum.
It surprised the heck out of me... in a good way.
Maybe there's a virtual band in my future. 8-)

Thank you for posting this thread; here's to your continued success and creativity together!
Cheers... and God bless you.

Thanks everyone. Exciting to be written about. Glad the taxi forum was featured so prominently. Paul, what about Marc and I, don't we look good? :)

Hey, if anyone is near a music store that carries this mag and you wanna drop in, take a pic of it on the stand .. open it to our article, snap another pic .. that would be so cool .. gonna do it myself, but would be nice to have a few! Plus, it's an excuse to go look at some gear! They say it's carried by all Guitar Center locations and also Music & Arts Center locations and other stores as well: check for one near you: https://makingmusicmag.com/find-a-music-store/

Dean, sending you a PM - I suffered with CFS for years and have found a few things that worked.
