"I Breathe You In" - new ballad

Post by singer1 » Wed Aug 20, 2014 9:00 pm

Hey Taxi gang, I have a new ballad that I've been working on, entitled "I Breathe You In" that can be found on my Taxi homepage. Thoughts and comments welcome. This is still in formation stage,so.... Thanks & see ya at the Rally! D.B.M.

Good song David. Music box sound and background vox give it a dream-like feel.
I like the piano's entrance. Strings come in where they should. Nice chorus. Very smooth and easy listening.
Wish I could sing like that!

Only thing I found off-putting was that oscillation (is that the word) right at the end, during the final strings. Not sure what's causing it.

Best of luck with this.

Dave.

fwiw/imho/to these ears:
The high glock bell tones in the intro make for an interesting intro... sets up anticipation of what's coming. When they come in again later... like into the 2-min mark and beyond, I find they
1) begin to feel like too much repeat ala "I've heard that already";
2) they compete with, rather than complementing, your terrific vocals: which are always stellar and your strength.

So: idea to consider: if completely deleting them makes for too much of a hole, how about changing to a lower-tone (octave or two below/) bell tone... but without it sounding too churchy...maybe have them more set back and down in the mix: for texture that still lets your vocals be the main thing? Yes? No?

It's a 'big song'... (that's a good thing :) ) and think the tiny-ness of the high bells deep into the song are more of a hindrance than a help.

Nice job, Dave.
Again... just two ears'-worth of opinion.

Cheers!

You could sing accompanied by a vacuum cleaner man and sound wonderful.

Everybody wishes they could sing like you ;)

Cools song

Hello David, this is magical and your voice is wonderful. Has the feel of a wonderful love song and the melody is very memorable, it is indeed a big song. As for the technical stuff (mixing, production), I don't have much to say except that this sounds very professional to me, like something I would hear on the radio. I'm inspired.

You guys are making me blush.... thank you for all the kind words. This is a co-write with a friend in Pennsylvania. Our long distance has been no hinderance in creating cool songs.
Thanks to all who listened and responded. See ya at the Rally. D.B.M.

P.S. - I sing with all vacuum cleaners... no preference!
