My first "Drum & Bass" attempt ....

Post by PeterD » Tue Aug 26, 2014 12:09 pm

Hope this https://soundcloud.com/moanakeiki/epic-chaos-2014 works for this listing:

DRUM & BASS-INSPIRED ELECTRONIC INSTRUMENTAL CUES are needed by a very busy Music Library for use in Film Trailers. Submit Instrumentals in the stylistic wheelhouse of artists like Pendulum, Brookes Brothers, High Contrast, etc. Give them high-energy, syncopated, rhythmically inventive Cues. Non-lyrical vocal embellishments are okay, as long as they don't take away from the overall vibe of the instrumental performance. Buttoned endings are preferred, but not absolutely necessary. All submissions need to be at least 2 minutes in length. This Library offers a NON-EXCLUSIVE, 50/50 split. You'll get 50% of the sync fee and 100% of the Writer's share. They'll get 50% of the sync fee and 100% of the Publisher's share. You need to own or control 100% of the Master and Copyright. Broadcast quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine). Please submit one to three instrumentals online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis - No full critiques. Submissions must be received no later than Thursday, August 28, 2014. TAXI #Y140828DB

Nice high-energy track, Mr. D. :)
Q: would you
1) submit this track per the 2-min length request and leave it to them to decide the edit points; or
2) make blank spots for them per your interpretation of the composition; or
3) submit a 2nd version with your edit spots?

Just curious... about what might improve or enhance forward and placement possibilities.
Cheers.

Thank you, Mr. R.! :D

That's a great question ... Given my latest flood of returns, I'm going to play this one conservatively.

Should it make it and generate a contact, I'll discuss the alternate versions at that time.

In the meantime, I'll dust off my Taxi alter, get some new candles, and sacrifice some fresh kill for the forward deity.

Great track bro!!

Not sure how picky about the genre the screener will be but they may complain about the tempo. D&B tends to be a bit faster than what you have here, more in the 160 bpm range.

I'm recalling the mid to late 90's when my bro in law was doing a lot of jungle, which is an offshoot of d&b, i thought perhaps things have changed but i just checked some tracks by pendulum in itunes and the lineage is still apparent.

Other than that though, sounds really good!! Glad your digging into your new gear!!

i will tend to agree with ochaim a bit on the speed, although nothing is really cookie cutter...

and as badly as i want to get away from EDM and learn some new stuff i must comment .. the beats your using are often referenced as jungle or (drum and bass) and they sync nicely to many hip hop beats when played as a dj live to move the crowd...

that said, it sounds very cool (did you use damaged btw) just wondering ......and not sure if you want any advice.. but, this style music started much of the dubstep, trap, bass wubb wubb stuff.. cause back in the 90's .. they wubbed wubbed all the time .. i would go 160bpm with 8 bars of 70-75 wubb wubb for dynamics..then back to 160.. that would be hot to me...

hope you dont mind my view from the couch. my productions are nothing special.. just want to contribute.
