Dance'd around the decision where to post this:
is it shameless? (no title, just a start of a spontaneously inspired idea):
It’s been a whole lotta years since Y2K
And I’m still tinkerin’ with my old toys
Turning knobs here… stompin’ wah-wahs there
Then commencin’ t’ jam with my boys
We’re writin’ new old songs … for fun and some coin
In the styles we learned and love growing up
But here we are now… in a new century
Folks are noticin’ I’ve not quite caught up
I need to drive my butt into this “21” (twenty one)
My favorite rides date back to the classic years
These hi-tech machines are apt to confuse me, Son
I’d rather drive a stick and shift through the gears
That’s what I’ll do… I’ll learn something new
Maybe change the way I do some things
But when it comes to playin’ my guitar songs
I’m goin’ old-school… and wail ‘til that bad-boy sings
Yeah… I’m wailing it ‘til that bad-boy sings…
(got any ideas to add...?)
Cheers.

Like several folk 'round here
I done past my 50th year,
Saw The Beatles hit the scene
Watched Cassius Clay as a young teen.
Yeah I find it hard to change
set in my ways, find new things strange.
But I'm hangin' on in there
thanks for askin', mine's a beer!

I put the kettle on, it didn't suit me.

Don't know where you guys are comin' from
these days are gone and it won't be long
till mine are too and when it comes
I hope I'll still be having fun
in forties, fifties middle age
hoppin' and boppin' like the world's a stage
But driving into the 21st century's queer
Coz it's been here now for 14 years!
