Crazy listings from a Taxi 'rival'

Post by denalihighway » Tue Sep 09, 2014 9:09 am

Does this not drive you nuts...

This is a listing from one of Taxi's rivals - I'd say the name but I don't want this thread to explode and it be traced to me! - but I'm sure we can imagine which one it is. If it helps, if you abbreviate their name, you have urban lingo for a sexual act which is generally more popular with men than women.

"New Listing and New Provider!

The film is a thriller in the sense of Hunger Games with a Kidnap scene, Hunt and Chase, we are looking for all music, not just thriller, sounds like Arctic Monkey', Aloe Blacc, Alt-J, John Powell, John Williams, Hans Zimmer Phantogram, Phoenix, to Bob Dylan, Jeff Buckley, Florence Welch, Ray Lamontagne, anything with violins or orchestral, and everything in between."

I'm a member of this crew, because I'm starting out and I've had a good few forwards, plus there do have a large amount of genres I'm interested in, that don't come up very regularly on Taxi. I'm hoping some success and publisher / library contacts through them eventually. But I'm not a fan of how they work. But at this stage of my 'career', I have to spread stuff far and wide before I can be fussy.

I think / this is my opinion / allegedly / apparently / etc - this is just taking the piss...as we like to say over here. I'm not sure how they get away with it. This is not an atypical listing.

ahhh...feel better now... :)

I do believe it Taxi. Still don't know if I'm going to get a lot out of it, even when my stuff starts sounding better, given the stuff I make...but my gut definitely says Taxi are in it for us. And lots of money of course

I guess that I did not get what was crazy about the listing. If it sounds good, go for it.

That still doesn't sound crazy. It just sounds like the company is keeping its options open. That can be a plus for composers, especially if they work in multiple genres.

Perhaps the company just wants something fresh and surprising.

Possibly keeping it's options open.

Possibly increasing the probability of the submission of every song on earth from every composer on earth :)

Sorry boys, but you need to be more careful with your music, imho. That listing smells funny.

Phishing for what? Great music?

SMH @ the level of paranoia that musicians have. The worst that could happen is that your song never gets used.
