To Rent Or Not to Rent

Post by cjacob » Thu Sep 11, 2014 7:36 am

A car, that is. I am a newbie at the Road Rally and I am planning to stay in Westin Hotel most of the time and wondering what things [restaurants etc.] are at walking distance.
Thanks

I think you can save your money on the car rental. Nearby (easy walking) there is at least a;

McDonalds, taco bell, Denny's, subway, Internet cafe, and the hotel restaurant which is very good.

This will be my fifth Rally and I've never wished I had a car available.

Cheers

and new last year - a Thai-ish restaurant next to the hotel.

the hotel has the restaurant which might be a little more $$$, a breakfast buffet, and the bar / lounge area also serves food. And Starbucks moved from the coffee cart adjacent to the front door to the far end of the lobby and has the regular starbucks stuff.

There are also TAXI mentor lunches on Friday and Saturday - last time I went they were $35 a day. If you haven't attended one they are a good way to meet some other members and mentors.

Yup, that was the problem. :lol: :lol:

Driving around the LA area is pretty tough with the traffic. However, if you want to sightsee and can gather a few friends to go with you, splitting the cost of a Taxi might be simpler. Yes, the Taxi could still get caught in traffic, but it's much less of a headache. Also, checking out and returning a car can be a pain.

Most of us east a lot of our meals at Subway, Denny's, Taco Bell, etc.

:) Casey
