Anyone looking for a roommate?

Post by guitmusic1 » Mon Sep 15, 2014 9:46 am

I'm trying to convince my mandolin player to join me on this adventure, but not sure he'll bite. If he doesn't come I'll be looking for a room mate for a double bed room to share expenses.

I'm also looking to speak to an experienced rally goer to get some tips on how to best use my time.

1) Is there an orientation?
2) Mentor sessions/packet to review prior to getting there?
3) performance opportunities?
4) how many CD's do you bring... or are samplers best?

Not really. There is an opening "keynote" that starts everything off, and then you are off and running. The thing I found helpful on my first one is to not try and do everything your first time. There is just too much to take in. Come to the Rally knowing one or two things you want to focus on and go from there.
2) Mentor sessions/packet to review prior to getting there?
Yes. There are packets that include class schedules, mentor bios and tons of information. Look for it on the Taxi site as we get closer to the Rally date.
3) performance opportunities?
Yes. There are open mic nights that you sign up for on Friday and Saturday nights. Two rooms each for these. There are also many people playing in the corners of the lobby and such.

There are a number of topics around this forum on this. It would be wise to search for it and see what people are saying and what you think. I tend to bring a couple CDs (3 no more than 5) just to put in the boxes for the listening panels. For all other reasons, Networking and demos and such, I use my business card with a Soundcloud Link to it. Others have other opinions, so...

I am seeking a roommate for this adventure. I have booked a room already, don't know if you have as well. PM me and we can go from there.

Hey Marc,

Did your mandolin player decide to go? If not and you are still looking for a roommate, let me know.

Jon
