record with a James Tyler Variax -JTV-69 guitar?
Got comments about using one of these?
Looks interesting, if one has the means.
Cheers.

Sounds great for gigging, not so good for recording - from reviews that is.funsongs wrote:Got comments about using one of these?

Would like to try one.
Must say I always fancied a Gibson Robot, for it's self-tuning, and many choices of alternate tunings.

But look at the price!!
I put the kettle on, it didn't suit me.

Well... after posting this, and continuing to look at some You Tube reviews/comparisons, I hearddavekershaw wrote: Sounds great for gigging, not so good for recording - from reviews that is.

enough 'near-misses' on critical, iconic, tones that would steer me away, too.
One in particular compared a sampled Tele sound to the real McCoy: very poor replication;
that iconic Tele bite, growl, & twang was only REAL from the original. And same for the Les Paul.
The JTV-69 was a limp noodle in the comparison.
So, your comment is stop on; thanks.
I'll revise my list for Santa. A '52 tele and a Twin Reverb, if you please; Sir!!
Cheers.

I will, thanks for the link. However, since I posted this, I've been impressed by the Fender Squier Classic Vibe Telecaster (for those who can't afford the '52 or insist on something built here);wta wrote:Have a look at the Fender VG Strat... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E9XYQDtGdq0
and the 65 Deluxe Reverb... I'll have to revise my letter to Santa.
Reviews are quite convincing... although the off-shore manufacturing still makes me nervous.
Cheers.
