Sand ©2014 Robert George BMI
Walking through the desert thinking of the endlessness of sand
Chilled and frightened at the prospect of the friendlessness of man
Skulls and scattered ruins covered up by particles of time
Here where dry winds drink of sweat and blood and hungry earth can dine
Yet of all the things I’ve ever learned
The truest are what faith confirmed
Now the seas have gold and galleons hidden in their briny vault
Yet the brazen sand regards the ocean with a grain of salt
For the sand fills deserts, skulls and hourglasses evermore
While persistent, raging seas have reached no further than the shore
And for all the things I’ve ever learned
The truest are what faith confirmed
I looked upward, I looked inward then I bent to tie my shoe
And beside a splintered bone I saw a petal peeking through
There are oceans kept at bay and kingdoms lost to deep repose
Yet the will of sand retreats before a simple yellow rose
And for all the things I’ve ever learned
The truest are what faith confirmed
For all the things I've ever learned
The truest are what faith confirmed…
