Pro Tools clicks and pops.....

Any idea why that would be happening and how to fi the issue. Have a quiet acoustic type pf track, very few tracks but definitely audible clicks and pops in it. Using an Apogee Duet into an IMAC,,,,,,,

Weird but I think I have this narrowed down to a faulty electric guitar cable. If I mute that track, goes away. If it is active and I mute amplitube (sure blame it on the plug in) pops are still there. SO I mute the track, problem goes away. BUT the cable works fine. Let this be a lesson in buying superb quality guitar cables for recording (and this one was supposed to be).
