my daughter wants my song played at her wedding

Post by feaker66 » Fri Oct 10, 2014 5:37 pm

I wrote a song called "stand by me" a couple years ago. My kids always liked it and now she wants it played at her wedding.

My worry is that it is not mixed good enough and it "won't sound so good"?? I thought about just singing it, but I don't know if my voice would hang in there for it all??

Anyway, If anybody could listen and let me know if anything in the mix stands out as offensive, overbearing, lacking etc.

It sounds a little bassy to me on the headphones. I haven't EQ'd anything yet because I thought the vox was easy to hear?

Little nervous about this one. One thing good, it is a small wedding:)

sincerely

Paul

Stand by me

Will you stand up… for love
Will you stay with me for all your life
Stand up.. for love
Will you be content to be my wife

I hope you don’t hesitate I hope you feel like me
We both know how good this feeling can be

Stand by me put your hand in mine there’ll be no goodbye’s
Stand by me we will sail through time. Till the stars close their eyes.
Forever and ever and ever…

Will you care the same…. when are looks are gone
Will ya hold my hand… every day.. as time goes on
Thankfully, while growing old is compulsory, growing up remains optional!

I think it sounds great Paul, well balanced, nice panning scheme, to my ear nothing is screaming to be eq'ed. Nice work and congratulations!

Congratulations, Paul!

Lovely song. I think it is well performed, recorded and mixed.

Would you be able to listen to it ahead of time on the system they will use at the wedding? Or a similar one? Just a thought. Either way, if it sounds good on everyone's nearfields, I think it is safe to say it's a good mix and you don't have to worry about it anymore.

Sounds great here also, the only suggestion I have is that you might want to bring enough cd's cause everyone is gonna want a copy! :D ;)

Yeah, go for it Paul!

Sounds great, but even if it didn't she'd love it on that special day.
Don't give it second thought. Sorted! :)

Paul,

You're good to go with it. And if anything bothers you when it's being played, just blame the sound system!

Very nice!! My brother n law did the same thing, he wrote a song and sang it at his daughters wedding. It was a big hit and his voice was not that good. He also put together pictures on a large screen of her growing up as he sang the song. You may want to consider that as well. very nice song, she'll love it! Go for it!

Late to the party on this one, Paul... so these comments are without the benefit of having read the other ones first.
To these old ears, this is the kind of song that is golden all on its own; and needs no polish.
It is honest and well performed; and, as such, is very endearing - the mark of a good song.
Sure: you could go the route of a full-scale/full-band/studio-type production... which would also sound great. IMHO, if it never went there, it wouldn't be lessened at all.
Well done, Amigo...
it's full of charm, in a Neil Young sort of way. Hit "record" and go. Bingo!
hth, cheers.
