Clarification of Listing Y14105JZ

Post by LamarPecorino » Fri Oct 10, 2014 7:37 pm

The listing states lush instrumentation. I do not have the ability to produce anything of that nature. I wonder if a combo approach work for this listing. Many of the jazz recording of the 30s and 40s were combo oriented. Any thoughts?

I know what you mean, Lamar.
I took the plunge and used a sampled trumpet and 2 trombones. A real learning experience for me.!
Got a real live sax player to play fills and a solo. Also, piano, upright bass and a singer. The horns fill a bit, but mostly it's a small combo.
I hope the chord changes are lush. It's only $5. Worth a try!
It's being mixed so I don't have a link to a recording yet. Probably won't be ready until the last minute!
Best of luck to you!

Sincerely,
Louise

Thanks for your reply, Louise! It is a difficult listing to target. To me, there is a huge difference between Louis Armstrong singing joyfully and Billie Holliday singing the blues. I am trying to put something together in time. Hopefully it will hit somewhere in the midst of what they are desiring. Best of luck with your submission. Can't wait to hear your work.

Louise:

I am floored by your song. No pun intended. That is stellar work!! Because I was trying to wrap up production on another song submission, I did not get anything put together for this listing. Alas, so many songs, so little time! Congratulations on the best song of that type that I have heard in many years!!

I asked Taxi about this listing, and the head screener explained that the small combo stuff was more 50's. They really did want lush orchestration on this one, per the time period requested.

Thanks for the clarification, Niall. That would have been more than what I could have believably produced.
