re-post of a collab from last Fall...

Post by funsongs » Thu Oct 30, 2014 2:31 pm

Greetings.
Marty H. posted an instrumental (about a year ago) which caught my attention;
and he graciously agreed to let me put some words & a scratch vocal to his tune he titled:
"Sing A Happy Song" :D It's "playful-romantic" genre. :?

Once again, cheers.

Peter,

So with that song title I expected a song that was a little bit more upbeat. If the tune was another 15-20 bpm faster, I think it would be really good. You've got a cool backing tracking and a good melody, but they are not working together perfectly in my opinion. Maybe try speeding up the backing track? I've never done that myself before, but I believe that is a feature on some DAW's.

Peter

"fun" stuff

Your vocal really worked on this. Liked the melody line you came up with. Not easy to do.

Glad you found a colab

Sincerely

Paul

Thanks, Paul.
Marty H composed and produced the original as an instrumental track only, and it was posted on the P2P with the title already in place.

What I added happened quite spontaneously, as I listened to it the first time. Call it an
"inspired moment", if you will. I didn't think about it... I just started singing (and writing down) the words that came to me describing the "scene" the music led me to imagine.

I contacted him about the lyric idea, sent them to him, and he agreed to send me the track files so I could add the scratch vocal track as a "rough demo".

To reply to John's comment - this sense of "happy", and the relaxed tempo of the piece, struck me as a laid-back-contentment sort of happy... not the bubbly, giddy kind. A bit more like a lazy-day sort of happy.

Does that make sense, or help?
Anyway... thanks for the listening and feedback.
Cheers.
