OMG - u learn something new everyday

Post by jonnybutter » Thu Nov 13, 2014 10:26 am

Hey all,

You vets probably know this but I never did until just now, and I bet there are plenty of people like me who don't. It's handy when there's a typo or studio burnout gets the better of you:

The date the pitch is due to Taxi is at the end of the listing number.

For example:

Please submit one to three Instrumentals online or per CD, include lyrics. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI and must be received no later than Monday, November 17th, 2014 at 2pm (PST). TAXI #D141117AI

The last four numerical digits in this listing are '1117' as in 11/17. DOH.

Yup. And, in your case, the 14 is for the year (2014) and the D usually means a Dispatch listing. So if you see a "Y" that would be Yes or No listings, and "S" is a "regular" listing with a full critique.

Also, the last two letters usually give you a clue about the type os listing - so say "JZ" might be a jazz listing, "AC" might be adult contemporary.... It isn't always as clear as the date, but it can help you jog you memory what the listing is and where you can find the listing in the list.

Cheers

I think Dan Brown has a new book coming out about breaking the Taxi listing codes. It'll probably be a bestseller.

Haha, seriously though, I never realized the deadline date was part of the listing ID. Cool to know.
