Sometimes Heroes Fail

Post by bobporri » Thu Nov 20, 2014 12:08 pm

Here is a new song from my project with Wayne Gamache and John Messier (PGM Experience).

This is a completed track at this point, just sharing. Still, comments welcome.

Bob,

It's a fun track that certainly evokes a specific era in my life. I take it that those are your guitar chops blazing away? Nice.

BTW, I keep thinking you should update your picture to reflect the fact that you've got a beard now!

John,

Yeah, I'm doing electric guitars and bass, some ebow, some slide, etc. etc.

OK OK about the beard pics. Or maybe I'll just shave.

Great guitar Bob Might be a few to many fills is some spots tho. I know, but it's fun dude:)

The first part of the lyrics sounds a bit like our friend Dave Kershaw. Well, at least that's what I hear.

Liked it, thanks

sincerely

Paul

Bob,

Great chops on the guitar...drums sound nice. Over all the song moves along...my only suggestion is to add a bit more contrast between the verse and chorus. Maybe a short pre-chorus or walk up into the chorus. I don't know. Seemed a bit flat.

Good song.

great stuff Bob - lovely guitar work, nice energy in the track.

can't pinpoint the influences exactly - sounds 'British' ?? Kinda 70s ish British psych rock. Or else not at all.

Either way, I like it.

Regarding your photo - my only request is that coming up to next year's Rally, the avatar reflects, at least vaguely, what you will look like at the Rally :D - that way people won't walk past you in the lobby like I did on the Wed night. Our needs are small.

Paul,
but we already took out a bunch of the fills
Actually, we had more fills in there and they ALL had "wah". We realized it started to sound too much of an idea rip of White Room by the Cream so we dumped a bunch of the use. There is still plenty in there though ;) .

Pie,
This one is pretty much "in the can". Thanks about the guitar and drums comment. When I post my personal stuff it's often in "working stages". The PGM stuff I'm pretty tied to getting the final mix done (which we go to a different studio than mine for) before I'm "allowed" to post it anywhere. Although occasionally we do edit/rerecord some parts and get another mix done if there are issues. Thanks for checking it out.

Gareth,
Thanks for listening and the comments. I'll take the photo stuff under advisement. :)

Hey Bob

This was a great song to wake up to this morning. Very free wheeling stuff. Reminds me a bit of " Taking Care Of Business " by BTO. As the lead guitar player in my band ( many moons ago ) I appreciate those guitar riffs, they really keep the song moving along. Also, I loved the way the song ended with that drum roll. Nice!

Anyway, keep it up Bob...Rock On :D

Hot.. Hot heroic guitars.. Love the 80's feel.. but wanted the lead vocals more upfront I guess.
