Re: Black friday sales 2014

Post by kclements » Sat Nov 29, 2014 1:18 pm

I love a good deal, and I love to shop for gear and get new tools.

But I've taken a vow of silence for my wallet this year. No new gear until 12/2015. Until then, I'm am determined to learn the software I have - In and out, thoroughly. There is so much at my disposal that I rarely use. My goal is to exhaust everything that I have currently residing in my hard drive before adding anything else.

Secondly, I'm looking to really up my composition chops. So for me that means a lot more listening and practicing, less time looking through catalogs. ( damn you Sweetwater Sound and your ever present ProGear! )

I'm hoping to save enough pennies to make a huge purchase next year and replace my Mac and audio interface. Which means new hard drives and a new monitor.......

Cheers, and happy shopping.

Yes, wise KC! I *am* going to buy just ONE little VI (http://www.native-instruments.com/en/pr ... newsletter ) but that's *it*.

I always tell them, 'No more catalogs!" and they always send me one anyway. And I always look at it. I guess they know what they're doing. Curses!

I've changed the header and bumping this thread, as the links are also updated for holiday sales throughout December.

Toontrack is running a promotion on their facebook page. It's basically an advent calendar that gives a 24 hour flash sale on a specific product. The first one was $29 for a $189 electric piano, so they're really knocking the prices down. There is no timing to these posts, so you just have to check their facebook page daily.

I saw this about the price of Stylus RMX dropping and I don't think that's much.

EP at Spectrasonics has promised we will see something new about Stylus this year, so I'd wait for that. If you get it now, you may pay for the upgrade on top of the buying price now. Usually you get the upgrade for free if you buy it after they've announced a new product.

Where did you see/hear this from EP? I was a bit disappointed when they announced Omni2 and nothing about RMX. I use them both all the time and was really hoping for a RMX update

Cheers

Omni the iPad app doesn't work with Logic x. Actually Logic Remote doesn't work with Logic x unless you have your own internet connection or you use bluetooth. I would have never believed a drop in price but I am going to wait to buy it.
