Remember that one room apartment
With the taped up window and the warehouse view
And how I’d always wake up wishing
That the morning had much more to offer you

And I’d pray for somewhere we could go to
And I’d hope that somehow I could show you

A storybook romance
With a sterling full moon and a stardust dance
Hills watching from afar
And an endless night sky filled with wishing stars
It’s like my heart had wings
O and it would carry us in secret dreams
To a storybook romance

Our sofa bed beside the furnace
We’d be fighting off the deep December chill
Our tiny Zenith on a milk crate
Plastic roses on the drafty windowsill

All those snowy nights we had to stay in
I’d close my eyes and take you away in

And a peaceful night sky filled with wishing stars
It’s like my heart had wings

Once I said I wished we had a magical life
And you told me love that’s real needs truth to survive
I was foolish to put faith in magic and myth
