What's making my ears happy is the separation... guitars and everything "wide" is leaving delicious amounts of space;
which yields such a cool, big, open sound and feel.
In that Outro part I'm hearing Oak Ridge Boys :? :) ....
did they just happen to be hanging out for this? ;) :lol:

Awesome tune Craw!
My favorite part is the False Ending/Bridge Resolve just before Verse 4, brilliant!
In my monitors the bass was hard to pick out except for that upper neck run that happened somewhere in there...
Otherwise the mix is Crisp, Clean... and Feels Great
Nice work

I know you just asked for thoughts on the mix but I'm a song guy and I love the chorus. I would shorten this down to one verse pre-chorus and really prove that title idea chorus hook. Take the best of the best start with that and hit that chorus saying what you are saying.... see this is what i mean everyone just wants to be loved.

As it is now it kinds of jumps to fast from generations and does not prove the word WANTS enough in the first 4 lines.

I like the overall mix vibe of it though.

Best.

The only slight tweak I might make would be to raise the lead vocal by about 1 to 1.5 dB's in the chorus, as it's getting a bit buried by the bkgd vocals (except on the last chorus, where he's singing louder - from there on in it's good).

And yes, I just want to be loved too!

Heya Craw

This makes my ears happy... sounds kinda honky-tonk bar-ish with a bit of soul and gospel thrown in there.... ok, enough about my happy feet.

I agree with John that the lead vocal needs to come out more... bring it forward in the mix somehow. Being back there, it's like all those tasty guitars wide and front are the focus and not the vox.

Good stuff, man... gonna listen again just for fun ;)

Listening again after reading others' comments, got to agree with a few that I missed:
that nice big, open space leaves room for the lead vocal to come up, as suggested;
and to complement that, probably a bit more bass/bottom end would really be the icing on the cake.

Hey, New Member here, first post.
I know this isn't a big help crawdaddy, but I think the song and the mix are really smokin'! :D
