i think it has potential. i now you're trying to get real different with the minimalist percussion, but to be honest, i don't think the typical listener is going to 'feel' the beat. it seems everything nowadays has a beat you can feel. right now the percussion is kind of distracting from the emotion you are trying to convey.

i like all the other elements and your voice. i do think it needs to build and drop down somehow like someone else said.

you sound like sting. so in terms of genre/ala, i think it's sting and like others said, p. gabriel.
