Indie folk dispatch feedback

Post by AHawley » Tue Feb 24, 2015 6:18 pm

There is a dispatch listing for indie folk rock instrumental. I'm thinking of submitting the tune "Backwoods" found here: https://alexhawley.bandcamp.com

I haven't submitted too many yet, so any constructive advice would be hugely appreciated.

Cheers!
Uplifting INDIE FOLK INSTRUMENTALS are needed by the CEO of a NON-Exclusive Music Library that primarily gets placements in lots of reality TV shows. Give him Mid-Tempo Instrumentals that would be heard on the same playlists as current Indie Folk bands like; Of Monsters and Men, Mumford & Sons, The Lumineers, etc., etc., etc. Listen to the following references to get yourself in the ballpark:

“King and Lionheart” by Of Monsters and Men:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A76a_LNIYwE

“Lover of the Light” by Mumford & Sons:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nMJUbZrNnA8

“Flowers in Your Hair” by The Lumineers:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZI5Xpl7H5O4

He’s looking for happy, positive, and uplifting contemporary Indie Folk Instrumentals that will add a positive vibe to any scenes they’re used in. Give him authentic sounding Tracks that feature banjos, mandolins, acoustic guitars, and light percussive elements. Some Bluegrass influence is okay, but it shouldn’t dominate your Track. Submit full length Instrumentals that are structured like songs, but without the lead vocal or melodic line. Don’t submit anything that’s too harsh or frenetic for this opportunity, as it might not work well under dialog.

Hey Alex, by all means send it in! This type of music isn't really my forte, but what I hear sounds good. Good energy, cool melody, but sparse in the right ways. Good luck, and welcome to the world of submissions!

Nice job. I'm not sure it sounds "Indie" enough for this listing. Maybe it could be tweaked a little before sending. Good luck.

Thanks guys! There's a few things i'm going to tweak in the mix first, perhaps I can make it a bit more "indie", but I'm going to go for it with this one.

cheers,
alex
